NAVIGATING A WORLD BEYOND 1.5°C

The world missed its goal for tackling climate change.

What happens next?

This is a story about a storm…

In 2015, the world agreed to limit global heating to 1.5°C. Like a ship facing a storm, it had to change course. And since then, remarkable progress has been made. The course is shifting.

But it’s not been enough. Ten years later, global heating is overshooting 1.5°C. The world is now in a growing climate storm and heading deeper. It needs a strategy for sailing out…

So, in this four-part documentary series, we explore the huge challenges that come from 1.5°C overshoot. We meet the people with the ideas to navigate what comes next, from protesting pensioners to climate negotiators, Pacific islanders to pre-eminent scientists.

And we uncover the fantasies that brought us to this point. Fantasies that technology can save the world, that the impacts of 1.5°C won’t be that bad, that everyone is ‘doomed’.

When you’re in a storm, fantasies are a dangerous distraction.

Instead, this series seeks to tell a different story, one fit for navigating the overshoot storm.
